A Comparison of Patio Essentials' Torch Fuels | Patio Essentials

Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner and you know what that means - summer is finally on its way! As you roll out the grill and set up the patio furniture to enjoy the sunshine, you're probably also getting your torches set up to help keep bugs away and add a little ambiance to your outdoor space. But what should you fill those torches with?

There are a lot of different torch fuel options out there, so we're going to give you a quick break-down of our three Patio Essentials brand torch fuel options: Citronella-Scented Torch Fuel, Scatterbug Torch Fuel, and Nature's Flame Torch Fuel.

Before we get into the differences between the torch fuels we offer, we wanted to answer a few commonly asked questions about what to put in your torches.

  • Can I use pure citronella essential oils to fill my torches? No, essential oils are not made to burn in torches.
  • Do I need to empty my torch fuel canister after each use? Yes, we do recommend that you pour any leftover torch fuel back into the original container between uses for safety.

Alright, let's jump into comparing our Patio Essentials torch fuels!

Patio Essentials Citronella-Scented Torch Fuel

This is our most popular torch fuel option. It has real citronella oil in it to help mask the scents that mosquitoes are attracted to, making it a great addition to your barrier of protection. Our citronella-scented torch fuel is available in a 2-pack of 44-ounce or 100-ounce bottles, so you can get as much as you need based on how many torches you use! Like all of our torch fuels, it comes with our EZ fill cap to help prevent spills and splashing when pouring the fuel.

ScatterBug Torch Fuel

This is our premium-blend torch fuel option. In addition to the citronella oil, ScatterBug also has cedarwood oil in it. Cedarwood is another essential oil that helps keep mosquitoes away, so if you're looking for something with more repellency power, this is a great choice! As a part of our commitment to you to make sure that our products are effective at repelling mosquitoes, we teamed up with a research lab to test the efficacy of our ScatterBug torch fuel - read the results on our blog post! Cedarwood also has a warm, woody fragrance that promotes relaxation and makes for a better smelling torch fuel. If standard torch fuels have too strong of a fuel scent for you, ScatterBug is a good alternative.

Nature's Flame Torch Fuel

Prefer an eco-friendly, plant-based torch fuel? Then our Nature's Flame torch fuel is the way to go! This is our petroleum-free torch fuel formula. Its 100% plant-based, non-toxic formula provides a less smoky and cleaner burn compared to traditional torch fuels. Again, this torch fuel comes with our EZ fill cap to help prevent spills and splashing when pouring the fuel. Just a tip, this torch fuel does not contain any essential oils that will help keep mosquitoes at bay but still adds a cozy ambiance to your outdoor space.

We hope this helps you pick out the perfect torch fuel to make your summer spectacular! If you need a few torches to put the torch fuel in, we've got you covered there too! Any more questions? Leave them in the comments below and we'll get you answers.
